and i missed it
Oh, baby, what were you thinking:
“I don’t know how to make salad.”
Apparently that’s what my brother’s sister-in-law said during the Christmas gathering. He got a few warning glares yet managed to keep his mouth shut. I’m going to snigger over that for the rest of the week.
wind me up
When stuck for paragraphs leading into a graceful exit of characters stage right, add something. In this case, a wind-up toy frog, a plain green frog possibly wearing a crown. Of course, the classic item to add is yet another body which has the added benefit of reducing the suspect list, too.

KaNoWriMo
Yay! 50 000 words done within 30 days… I couldn’t get enthusiastic about NaNoWriMo at the time so decided to do my own. And have. Now I just need to finish as much of the story as I can before NYE and I will be very very happy. Even about the 1930’s gangster’s moll who pushed the current scene past its planned length. But because of her, I do get to mention Lucy, the Hell’s Belle from Wolf Hollow.

are we there yet?
Well, no. But I have had this wicked little idea for something else, and now that I think about it more, it’s a wicked big idea … and if you don’t recognise the original line … oh, for the love of Rupert.
I’ve also found part of my endearment list which includes kaereste as Norse for sweetheart. Interesting how it rolls off the tongue and feels like a caress.

Ticklish
My subconscious insists on reading Katarr Kanticles as Katarr Kantickles … it also tickled me awake this morning with a scene featuring a Siamet who only went out for handcuffs. And maybe some honey balm, or lotus oil. He got a little more than he bargained for, like the start of a much longer story which will have to wait.
After hanging out with Marco and his spirit mentor, Vieve, enthusiasm for the novel-in-progress waned. I’m still babbling my way toward the daily wordcount, filling in gaps, eating whatever I can get my hands on. Oh, I did fall for Jamie and Daya; they’re so cute with their endearments.

essence of rose
Nothing very interesting today, just babbling through gaps in the timeline mostly relating to the bones and boosting the mystical/goddess bit. The addition of rosewater I think I owe to last night’s experimental cooking. For the record, adding rosewater to whipped cream for a trifle works well.

heh la
Favourite character, no matter her guise or current name, is Milady Web. She’s been with me from the beginning, meddles persistently in other people’s romances, and steals the good lines. When asked if she is ever serious, she responds:
“Rarely. I hear it has horrible ageing effects.”
That’s my girl. Strangely, and Thorne agrees with me on this, MW hasn’t been around for a lot of the novel. She’s making up for her lapse at the moment.
