Have you read more than 6 of these books?
Apparently, the BBC believes that most people will have only read six books on the following list. My question for some of course is why would you do anything more than use them as a doorstop or a plant press but here goes:
x1 Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
x 2 The Lord of the Rings – JRR Tolkien (once, long time ago)
x 3 Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
- 4 Harry Potter series – JK Rowling (with pride, NO, NEVER)
x 5 To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee
mischief minimis
Idling with an offshoot from the Siren’s Gate series made slightly tricky by knowing some of the internal switches and not as much as I usually do of the narrative. Quite a reversal. But I do get to be silly with words and listen to one of my favourite playlists, including:
looking for danger signs
Oh. Thanks to iPod magic spinning up songs like the Black Sorrows I’m A Stranger and Divinyls Punxie, I may be ready to revive the Wolf Hollow project… Come to Heel. I do love that title. And I recently managed to synopsise the thing in under 2 pages, though which tense the final form will take remains a mystery. Having used the third-person omnioptent (?) for the last year, I’m currently more comfortable there despite dipping into the files and going “wow” at the vivid immediacy of present whatsit I used for WH and Morningside… and the Gate series, drat.
I’ll just turn the music up and skip to the Moody Blues Gemini Dream.
improbity
Gosh, so many cool words start with imp . . . and just as cool is moving Improbability Theory from the Must Finish list. It was never meant to be a novella, just a fun short story and then maybe a series. Now . . . it’s still fun with lots of pineapple, explosions, and necro skully goodness.
gold star
I deserve one, or maybe five. I definitely deserve bubbly because Phase One of the monterish novel is complete but it’s dark and windy outside so fetching of bubbly reserved until tomorrow when I get to play with something new. Or old. Hmmm, the list of uncompleted projects is quite lengthy. And it doesn’t as yet include Illume: Phase Two. No, that’s going to require a significant rest period while all its flavours blend.

little blue stars
The gaps are shrinking, especially the little ones temporarily filled with asterisks or blue text. I’ve had the guidebooks and vintage romances out so I now have a string of words to look up next time I take a net break… which won’t be today as there’s an almost-fight scene I’ve been saving. That would be a good gap to fill. At least now I know the name of the private college: L’Ecole des Beaux Gestes.
